Knightnet - Christian Section |
|
Why a section about Christianity?Simply because I am a Christian and I wanted somewhere to collect together various thoughts and ideas - who knows, they may also be useful to other people too, I certainly hope so. Who or what is a Christian?A Christian is someone who believes that there is one God and that God allowed part of Himself to be born and live on Earth and be killed as a sacrifice that pays the price for our wrongdoings. That sacrifice allows us to approach God directly! So being a Christian is about having a personal relationship with God. Christians also believe that God has provided to us tools to do His work. They are made available to us by the Holy Spirit which is another part of the one God. Christians often refer to these tools as "gifts" which is how we view them. Sadly there are plenty of people (some of them well known) who claim to be Christians but who also freely admit that they do not believe what I have just outlined. I'm afraid to say that they must be in the wrong as this is not my definition but that of the bible. It is the bible from which we get our "manual" of beliefs and behaviours and it is the bible that provides a common set of directions for all Christians. There is plenty of scope for differences of opinion within those directions but the things I have outlined here are at the core of the bible and without those beliefs even the word "Christian" does not make sense. What else can I find in this section? You can expect to find a collection of my rambling thoughts about different aspects of Christianity, the Christian life and Christian beliefs. There is also another section of the site dedicated to Christian worship (which is about how we thank God for the things He does for us). This describes some aspects of worship but mainly is there to provide resources for worship leaders (primarily for St. Thomas' Church in Sheffield, UK). As always, I am more than happy to receive mail about the content of this section, indeed, I would be delighted to enter into discussions with anyone who is interested with anything you may find here - whether or not you are a Christian. But please note that I will not be drawn into "flame" wars over different religions, cults, or anything else. Whilst the discussion remains reasoned and polite, I am happy to talk. Please use my email form to get in touch. | |
