The nature of a site like this means that it will reference many organisations and products. As such all copyrights and trade marks are acknowledged. If you think or know that any reference requires a specific acknowledgement, please get in touch and I will endeavour to put things right as quickly as possible.

The majority of the information on the site is likely to have come from myself or from other, acknowledged, sources and the copyright of that information is held accordingly. If you wish to use the information in any other publication (whether web, print, or any other media), please get in touch to ensure that these things are taken care of.

Privacy

As an IT professional and consultant in security matters, I take personal privacy very seriously indeed. With that in mind, I do not generally collect ANY personal information though I can see the IP addresses of people who have accessed the site via my web logs.

Where the site is protected by user ID's and passwords, I only keep enough information for the management of the site itself, no more. Of course, you may also request for your details to be removed at any time and I will do so as quickly as possible.

I do use COOKIES on this site, currently in two ways neither of which are absolutely necessary but which do make your life easier:

• To remember your last Name and email on the contact page (if you have used it)
  This is a permanent cookie but you can delete it without ill effect if you wish
• To remember that you have logged in to a secure area
  This cookie is a "session" one that only lasts for a limited period (around 4 hours) and is then thrown away. It is normally also deleted when you close your browser.
  If you do not allow cookies on this site, you will not be able to log in to any of the secure areas but then again, if you have not logged in, you will not have a session cookie at all! The Session cookie has a name of "KNL" and a long string of characters, the actual login stuff is stored on the server, the password is never stored in the clear but IS transmitted that way so I suggest that you do not use a password that you want to keep secure. (Actually, I set the passwords at present, not very secure but more than enough for the low level of security required on this site).

Conversely, though, I do not take kindly to other people stealing information from the site. Nor do I allow defacing, hijacking or any other illegal or immoral activities on or via this site, anyone caught doing any of these things will face whatever legal and other means I can bring to bear to stop them.

Hmm, having re-read this page, I can see that the wording is far from ideal so expect to see this change. As always, I am open to ideas (JK).
