Why is the Template Structure 'Home Grown'?

In other words, why did I not use either an existing template class such as patTemplate, Smarty or one of the many others? Indeed, why did I not use an existing Content Management System (CMS) such as postNuke, Xoops, etc.

Well quite simply because I have found them all to be too complex. I would have spend a large amount of time hacking and twisting the tool just to make a simple site.

This means that they are difficult to change to the exact format that you want. They are also far too big and cumbersome taking up precious web space.

My system is simple and quick, takes up very little room and is easy to use but still flexible.
